About our signature expressive and effective Classes

Tap into your strength and body awareness through mat Pilates. Groundwork takes place entirely on the mat - on our backs, seated, or in tabletop. This supportive, flowing class emphasizes precise, safe movement sourced from your center.

Mood Barre, our signature full-body, feel-good movement class to help you nurture your self-awareness, strength, and joy. Part barre, part Pilates, part dynamic stretching, part free movement. This class leaves you feeling both soothed and energized.

Where it all comes together - Clarity to Create. Combining purposeful, heat-building patterns with mat-based flows and free expressive movements. Empowering, upbeat, and a bit fiery.

What we’re all about

I’m a writer, a noticer, and a person of many moods – maybe a lot like you.

I created Mood Barre as a haven and an invitation – a place where we can use movement, just like writing or art making, to feel our way through. By tuning into our bodies and moods, we can reach for more presence in which to carry out our lives, make our work, be with our friends and families, and walk through the world.

When the way we exercise is grounded in form, function, and feeling, what we’re doing is learning movement for life. Exercise becomes something we look forward to and something that sustains us. It’s energizing instead of depleting, therapeutic instead of harsh.

Above all, I’m here to help you create a movement practice that weaves seamlessly into the fabric of your life, one that lifts your mood, eases your mind, and feels good in your body. I guide you always with inclusive, welcoming language, so your precious flow-state will be never interrupted by an out of touch cue or comment. (As a writer, I know that words and their meaning really matter.)

When we physically shake it up and stretch it out, we can find pleasure and relief in a world that often feels both exhausting and exhilarating. It’s a way to remind ourselves that we are here, that we deserve care, that our lives are our own to make beautiful, that our time is precious, that we are good.

I hope my classes feel like a mind-and-body homecoming for you, every time you join me from my quiet living room where we move together as the sun streams in through the windows. I’d love to see you there.

What Members are Saying…

“Kate starts each class with so much grace. She simultaneously imbues each class with energy and a sense of calm. You leave not only centered and stronger but invigorated.

Having taken many pilates and barre classes, I find Kate's class more valuable than just a fitness class. Her joyful demeanor is infectious and you leave her class thinking 'what will you do with your new set of wings!”

— BRITT Z.

“I've known Kate for many years now and can honestly say she is one of the most special individuals I know. She is an exquisite teacher. It is clear she is dedicated to her craft and I always appreciate the intelligent and dynamic sequencing.

Her classes reveal something deeper than that though, Kate is invested in guiding and creating an experience that is strong, meditative and truly meaningful. She is warm, inviting and can teach in a way that is accessible to many. I’ve taken her classes in person and online and have walked away from both feeling like I just received a gift.”

— NINA E.

“Kate’s classes burn in the very best way. She is a kind and welcoming teacher, whose classes always leave me feeling strong and connected to my body for the rest of the day. Low impact but also challenging, Kate’s classes are adaptable for all levels.”

— NINA B.

“Admittedly, I had no clue what barre was, but I have come to LOVE it. Those 50 minute sessions leave my body and mind feeling great. I cannot recommend Kate and her classes more.”

—Amanda D.

Questions? Curious?

You know we love clarity.

  • See what you’re in the mood for with 7 days of free, unlimited access to Mood Barre’s library of classes. You can cancel anytime before the trial’s up without being charged, or continue with a monthly or yearly subscription.

  • Yes and yes! You can expect new, live-streamed Mood Barre classes 2-3 times per week (with some bonus classes thrown in as inspiration strikes!).

Classes are hosted in Uscreen, which means that you get the best experience whether you’re hopping on live or browsing the content library. We live-stream and record with instructor view only, so there’s no pressure to be on camera (or distracting participant video in the recording).

  • Nah, we believe in flexibility! You’re billed month by month and can stop your membership anytime.

  • Nope! You don’t live in a dance studio and I don’t either, so we move together using a chair or the wall for stability. It works just as well!

Other props are truly optional in every single class – sometimes I’ll demonstrate with hand weights, a yoga block, or a small ball, but you’ll still have the complete experience whether you substitute with household items like water bottles and a rolled towel (or nothing at all).

  • You know your body best (and if in doubt, ask your doctor!) but Mood Barre classes are carefully designed to be accessible to different bodies and abilities. No prior experience is necessary, and we emphasize controlled, low-impact movement to help you build strength, increase mobility, and move comfortably in your body.

Unlike in other fitness classes, you won’t hear “if you want to feel the burn even more, do this” or “if you want to take it down a notch, here’s a modification.” At Mood Barre, there are no levels of difficulty or achievement – we’re here to help you move in a way that’s effective and feels good.

Movement for deep self-awareness, true self-expression, and the clarity to create.
